Bird festivals are held to disseminate knowledge of birds in Guerrero state, besides educating the public accessibly and interactively about knowledge concerning their origin, diversity, behavior, ecological functions, threats, and conservation.
The lab has held two Guerrero bird festivals, the first in March 2019 at the School of Environmental Sciences in Acapulco, Guerrero, and the second in December 2023, in the town of San Vicente de Jesús, municipality of Atoyac de Álvarez, Guerrero.
Festival activities included bird-watching tours, stands with displays of bird-related topics, photographic exhibitions of birds in their natural environment, workshops and interactive games for children, and the screening of documentaries like “Birds of Guerrero and their ecosystems”, “The phenomenon of migration” and “The language of birds”.
